Grading Plan:
In my ELA classes the gradebook is made up of three sections. Each section is weighted as follows:
15%- Homework/Classwork/Participation (There will be a grade in this category almost every day)
35%- Quizzes (We tend to have 4-6 quizzes per quarter. They usually are quick 10-15 question assessments on individual concepts we’ve been practicing)
50%- Major Assessments (Our goal is to have at least 4 major assessments per quarter. These can be longer tests (usually 20-30 questions) on entire units, projects, essays, stories, etc.)

Homework:
Students will likely have a reading or written assignment each evening (sometimes even both!). That work can consist of workbook exercises, small writing assignments, vocabulary assignments, or reading assignments. On the occasions when an assignment is not due the next day, that would be a wonderful time to work on a larger project that’s due soon!
